New Supercomputer Funded by NSF PDF Print E-mail
Written by Peter Hoyt

The NSF has funded OSU to upgrade our supercomputing cyberinfrastructure in 2016

For the second time in a row, Dr. Dana Brunson has obtained funding to purchase a new supercomputer at OSU. This new system... tentatively named "Pistol Pete"... will provide the increased capacity we need at OSU as big data research has grown exponentially. With Dr. Brunson's leadership, supercomputing users have grown from a few dozen to several hundred, and our five-year-old system "Cowboy" often runs at 100% duty cycle with a substantial queue. Congratualations to Dr. Brunson and her coPIs: Dr. Peter R. Hoyt, Dr. Ranga Komanduri, Dr. Sohum A. Sohoni, and Dr. Lan Zhu.
