NSF MRI Submitted: Illumina NextSeq500 funds requested (2016)
The Bioinformatics Core Resource Facility has submitted an NSF Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) proposal asking for funds to upgrade from our existing Roche 454-Junior, to an Illumina Sequencer: the NextSeq500. This would represent a 1000-fold increase in next-gen sequencing capacity at OSU, and the cost is 300X LESS expensive per base-pair. Strong support from the research community made this proposal possible.
While we wait to hear if this proposal is funded, we want to thank all of those who took time to assist with the proposal preparation. We also want to thank the Vice President of Research Office for selecting our proposal to go forward two years in a row.
